EBI Wins the 2013 Weatherhead 100 Award

 

The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University established the Weatherhead 100 awards to celebrate Northeast Ohio's spirit of entrepreneurship and to reward companies that serve as a beacon to all the region's businesses.  Employee Benefits International is honored to receive this prestigious award for the year of 2013 and be recognized as one of the 100 fastest-growing companies in Northeast Ohio.  Thanks to you, our customers and partners, we were given the opportunity to contribute to our region's growing vibrancy.  We couldn't have done it without you!

 

EBI Named to Inc. 500/5000 Fastest Growing Companies For the Second Year in a Row!

 

Employee Benefits International has earned its place on the Inc. 5000 for the second year in a row!  Inc. Magazine ranked EBI number 2710 on its seventh annual Inc. 500/5000, an exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest growing private companies. In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2013 Inc. 500/5000 companies is an impressive 142 percent.  The companies on this year’s list report have created over 520,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $241 billion. 

 

EBI could not have achieved this award for the second year in a row without the support of our clients and partners.  We are a good company in good company!

 

Large Employer Mandate Delayed until 2015

 

 The US Department of Treasury has just announced that it will provide an additional year before the mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements begin for large employer groups.  Large employer groups are currently defined as having 50 or more full-time employees and full-time equivalents.   

 
As a direct result of this transitional relief,  the employer mandate (also known as the shared responsibility, employer penalty or 4980H) will be delayed until 2015.  This also includes the measurement periods for variable hourly employees.
 
Specific details are expected to be released shortly to clarify what provisions of the Affordable Care Act will remain in place.  At the present time, the individual mandate will remain in place.  This requires all individuals (not employer groups) who do not have insurance through an employer group to obtain coverage or pay a penalty starting 1/1/2014.  Also the Exchanges are still on schedule to be operational by 10/1/2013.
